The Osun State Government has revealed that its reversal of 4-5-3-4 introduced by the immediate past administration and the re-introduction of the 6-3-3-4 system of education had received the backing of the United Nations Children’s Fund.
A statement on Sunday by Ismail Omipidan, the Chief Press Secretary to Osun State Governor, said the reversal got the support of the global body in a letter by the UNICEF Field Officer in Akure, Dr Tushar Rene, addressed to the Osun State Government.
Osun State Government had recently reversed nine policies, including common school uniform and 4-5-3-4 introduced by the immediate past administration.
The statement also said UNICEF commended the state government for the reintroduction of the Early Childhood Development Education, describing it as necessary for remarkable brain development.
Rene’s letter quoted by Omipidan stated, “Early childhood is a time of remarkable brain development, and any investment in this area yields very high economic returns, offsetting disadvantage and inequality especially for children from poor families.”
