The Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has expelled the female student, identified as Goddy-Mbakwe Precious, who assaulted a lecturer over TikTok video.
Precious came under social media spotlight on Tuesday after the video of her assault on Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer at the department of Theatre and Film Studies, faculty of Arts.
As captured in the video, the students of the faculty forcefully freed the Dr. Chukwudi from the grip of a furious Precious who had torn the lecturer’s cloth and allegedly bitten him during the fiasco.
Following investigation into the incident by UNIZIK disciplinary committee, the school management issued an expulsion letter to the erring student which must to take effect immediately.
As contained in the letter issued by the institution’s Acting Registrar, Victor Modebely, on Thursday, the management described Precious action as gross misconduct and violation of the Students’ Disciplinary Regulations.
Her expulsion was approved the Acting Vice Chancellor and she was to return all the university’s property in her possession.
NPO reported that the drama began on Tuesday following the said TikTok where Precious made derogatory remark against the lecturer drew her attention for obstructing the corridor.
As captured in the video, Dr. Chukwudi said ‘excuse me’ before giving the student a tap on her shoulder to call her attention.
