Relief appears to be coming the ways of teachers in the nation’s universities, polytechnics and colleges of education as President Bola Tinubu has approved a new salary increase. A circular sighted by the NPO Reports is indicating that the office of the Auditor General of the Federation has instructed all necessary departmental heads to proceed towards the implementation of the new salary regime. The circular, which was signed by F.O Ajanaku, was at the instance of the Department of Human Resources. Independent findings by the NPO Reports in some federal institutions confirm that the message has reached those concerned. A senior lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, who confirmed to the NPO Reports on Friday said the university community is already aware of the new salary that is coming. More details to come…
However, the Academic Staff Union of Universities on Friday said it was not aware of the circular yet saying that when it is made official, the union would make the necessary pronouncement. President of the union, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, who spoke with the NPO Reports on phone on Friday, said “We are not aware. You know in Nigeria, anything can happen on social media. When they communicate us officially, we will then make the necessary statement,” Osodeke said
