A former Governor of Taraba State Darius Ishaku has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
NPO Reports gathered that the former Governor was picked up at his Abuja residence in the early hours of Friday and was still at the commission’s office Friday evening.
EFCC’s Spokesman Mr. Dele Oyewale while responding to NPO Reports inquiries on Friday confirmed that Ishaku was arrested.
According to report, a source from the commission revealed that Ishaku faces at least 15-count charges, including criminal breach of trust, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds.
“We have been gathering evidence for some time now, and his inability to account for certain financial activities during his administration raised major red flags.
“The former governor is currently in our custody. He has been under investigation since leaving office, and there have been numerous instances of financial malfeasance attributed to him.” the source disclosed.
Ishaku, who served as Taraba state governor from 2015 to 2023, will be arraigned to court soon.
