The United States through its department of Interior has issued conditions for Nigerians living in the state over their planned protest.
The group tagged Nigerian American Coalition for Justice and Democracy had written a letter to the department of Interior for the permission to stage a protest over the outcome of 2023 general elections which according to them was full of irregularities.
In their letter, the organization alleged the electoral umpire in the country, INEC for not following the laid down procedures for the conduct of Feb 25th presidential election in the country.
According to them, INEC failed to follow their guidelines nor rule of law in accordance of demographic principles.
The organization stated that their proposed demonstrations was to call the attention of the US government and Biden Administration to not recognize the declared winner in the said election.
Granting their request, the US government through its department of Interior stated that Permittee and all participants authorized therein must comply with all of the conditions of the permit including all the reasonable directions of the United States Park Police.
It also added that “all sidewalks, walkways and roadways must remain unobstructed to allow for the reasonable use of these areas by pedestrians, vehicles and other park visitors.”
The demonstration is expected to take place on the 3rd of April, 2023 from 8am to 12pm on the said date with a total number of 100 participants.
