United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived at the presidential villa of the Aso Rock Villa to meet with President Bola Tinubu.
Blinken would be the first highest-ranking official from the Biden Administration to visit since May 29 that Tinubu assumed office.
Blinken arrived the forecourt of the villa at 6: 52 pm local time. He was received by Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggur
During his visit, Blinken is expected to hold bilateral meetings with President Tinubu and some of his key appointees.
Blinken’s week-long whistle-stop African tour includes stops in Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Angola, focusing on discussions related to regional security, conflict prevention, democracy promotion, and trade.
The visit aims to underscore the Biden administration’s commitment to partnership with Africa, addressing issues like climate, economic investment, and food and health.
