Human Rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has disclosed that social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has been found at the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) hours after his arrest at Guarantee Trust Bank (GTBank).
NPO Reported that VDM was arrested by suspected policemen at a GTBank branch where he had accompanied his mother to.
The activist had stormed bank over deductions from his mother’s account in settlement of a loan she allegedly took.
VDM would be nabbed and whisked away shortly after arriving at the bank by the policemen.
His manager, Kokopee, and a man who claimed to be the activist’s brother both confirmed his arrest in separate videos shared on X.
While also confirming VDM’s arrest in a post on his X handle, Adeyanju demanded immediate release of the VDM as he threatened to sue GTBank over the activist’s arrest.
The Human Rights lawyer would in a recent post disclosed that VDM was arrested alongside his friend by EFCC officials and detained at the commission’s custody.
The activist, according to Adeyanju, however refused to come out of his cell despite his lawyers’ arrival at the EFCC custody.
Adeyanju alleged that VDM was locked inside GTBank’s exit door for five minutes to aid his arrest.
“Our lawyers led by the Head of our firm @Marvin_Omorogbe just met VDM’s friend who was arrested together with him in EFCC custody. VDM refused to come out of the cell; that he won’t see anyone.
“VDM was locked inside the GTB exit door for over 5mins to enable EFCC arrest him and his friend.
“We will be taking legal actions against GTB for the inhumane treatment meted out to our client. We will issue a public statement soon.” He wrote.
