Nigerian Social Media Influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has slammed popular Nigerian Writer and relationship expert, Solomon Buchi over his comment on the murder of Aminu Salisu, an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operative attached to the Enugu State Zonal Command.
VDM, in a post on his X handle on Monday, condemned Buchi’s remark on X following Salisu’s death during a raid on suspected internet fraudsters in Anambra.
Buchi had, in reaction to the incident, expressed delight over the death of the EFCC operative.
“A Nigerian man shot an EFCC officer that raided his home by 3am. I’m very happy. If you come in the night, you’re a thief that should die by a gun.” he had written.
Reacting, VDM expressed concern over the implication of Buchi remark, considering his status and influence.
“Solomon Buchi, do you know what this tweet have encouraged? Do you know what message this your tweet is sending to the youths? Other than that, Are you even a human being? Somebody was kpai in the line of duty! This is a human being, let’s leave EFCC out of it first. This is somebody’s son, somebody’s brother.
“You think all these security agencies are just picked from ground? These are other people’s family for crying out. And you want start encouraging the youths now to start fighting against security agencies to arm themselves.” VDM wrote.
The social media influencer also reacted on a post by another verified X user who wished all the three EFCC were shot dead as he questioned their midnight raid.
VDM explained that there is no particular time frame for fighting crimes as he claimed that the infamous, Nigerian internet fraudster, Hushpuppi, was arrested while sleeping.
“Nigerian youths or generally Nigerians, you people need to understand this. There is no particular time to fight crime. There is no where they scheduled the time to fight crime is from 6am to 6pm. in the night.
“Although all these our security agencies abuse all these things. But don’t take it to your mind to say how will they come by 3am. No! Even the popular Hushpuppi was picked when he was sleeping.
“Most of the intel about these fraudsters, kidnappers, and others, do you think you can go and catch them during the day? Most of these people work at night.” VDM continued.
While admitting that some of the EFCC operatives are not usually authorized to carry out some operations, VDM questions how the suspected fraudsters were able to possess firearms.
“Let’s look at the other place of all this whole thing. How were those guys enabled to possess a firearm? And with mind dem take shoot the EFCC, wetin dem dey use that gun do for their house? That should be a question!
“Are they just keeping the gun for protection or they use it too to do their own illegality and to do their own business? Are they part of the IPOB members that are disturbing the peace of the East? Nobody even ask say how.” VDM said.
Meanwhile, Buchi had ever pulled down the tweet and apologize over his remark following a chat with VDM.
He, however, maintained his stand against the midnight raid considering the spate of insecurity in the Southeast.
Buchi also denied over the death of the EFCC operative but commended the act of self-defense as he recounted similar ordeal his brother had with EFCC operatives.
“I took my post down after a chat with VDM following his post. I wouldn’t want hoodlums to misinterpret my post for a call to anarchy and lawlessness! We await the EFCC chairman’s press conference this evening!
“They employed high tech, tracked him, gathered all evidence and duly arrested him. South-eastern Nigeria is very unsafe, and roads are empty as early as 8pm. Barging into someone’s house at 3am after the chairman of the EFCC had discontinued night raids should be met with self-defense.
“The EFCC has long followed this suspicious trend of night arrests, and it was only a matter of time before a brave Nigerian would protect themselves. It would not be wrong to mistake a security officer who jumps fence with masks as an armed robber!
“My brother was a victim of the unthinkable brutality of men of the EFCC last year. They jumped the fence into the compound, fully masked, armed and they broke the CCTV cameras. In what world does a government security parastatal break CCTV cameras during their raid?
“I did not rejoice over the death of an EFCC officer. I rejoiced that a man had a licensed gun to protect his family from unknown gun men who jumped into his compound in the dead of the night. I would do just same if I had a gun.” He wrote.
