Nigerian Social Media Influencer and activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has led the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) primary school pupils in protest over their teacher’s strike.
NPO Reported that the activist had last week called for President Bola Tinubu’s intervention over the non-implementation the new minimum wage for the FCT primary schools teachers who had been on strike for over nine weeks.
Visiting one of the affected schools in Abuja, VDM disclosed that the teachers are still been paid N30,000 despite promises of an upgrade to the N70,000 new wage.
While warning over the consequences of keeping the children out of school, the activist had also charged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the FCT LEA over alleged handling of the teachers salary.
In a latest development, VDM on Monday led the pupils to the office of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in agitation over the strike.
The activist, as captured in a post shared on X, appeared in the same uniform as the students who carried banners with different inscriptions demanding for the settlement of the teachers and an end to the strike.
Some of the inscriptions read; “Please don’t kill our future.” and “You call us leaders of tomorrow while stopping our school for nine weeks.”
Other banners displayed by the pupils read; “Nyesom Wike you are making roads for cars in Abuja and the blocking roads that leads to education for our children”; “Nyesom Wike we love you but do you even love us?”
