A video of Nigerian-British boxer, Anthony Joshua, recounting his ordeal shortly after surviving tragic accident along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has surfaced online.
NPO Reported that the former World Heavyweight champion was on the 29th of December involved in the ghastly lone accident which killed his fitness coach, Sina Ghami, and personal trainer, Lateef Ayodele.
Joshua’s driver, who had since been arrested, was reported to have rammed the car into a stationary truck by the roadside, killing Ghami and Ayodele instantly.
While the boxer who survived with minor injuries had since returned to the United Kingdom with his late friends buried, a FaceTime video chat with Nigerian-born Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, Kamaru Usman, would on Thursday surfaced on X.
As captured in the video chat moments after the incident, Anthony could be seen recounting, from his hospital bed, how the incident occurred.
Usman had asked about where the late victims had seated with Joshua replying that the reality of losing his friends had not yet fully sunk in.
“One was in the front and one was behind him, on the right side. They both passed away. It still hasn’t sunk in. It still hasn’t hit me yet.” He said in the video.
Usman, in response, expressed his condolences with the boxer.
“I’m sorry for that, man. You scared the world; I’ll tell you that right now.” The MMA fighter said as Joshua reflected on the incident.
“Life is short, man, life is short.” He said.
