Officials of the Gen. Tunde Idiagbon International Airport in Ilorin, Kwara State, has foiled the attempt of a middle-aged man who planned to conceal himself between the tyres of a United States-bound aircraft.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the airport tarmac.
As captured in a video shared on X by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the man identified as Segun Martins, had attempted to gain unauthorised access into the Overland Airline through the tyre compartment as the flight was about to taxi.
Martins had hoped to escape to the US with the aircraft which he thought was heading to the North American country.
His hope was however dashed as ground security apprehended him after forcing the aircraft to a halt.
According to Achimugu, he has since been handed over to the Airport Police for further investigation.
