As Operatives Deny Ex-Kaduna Governor’s Ally Access
- Safiu Kehinde
Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has on Monday honoured the invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial misappropriation.
This is coming barely a week after an attempt by security operatives to arrest the ex-Kaduna governor at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
NPO Reported that El-Rufai had resisted arrest with a crowd of supporters also challenging the security operatives at the airport.
A video of the altercation shared online showed El-Rufai charging the security operatives to rather send an invite to him than picking him up at the airport.
While the security operatives who accosted El-Rufai at the airport were confirmed to be personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS), the former Kaduna governor appeared to have received invite from the EFCC.
He however honoured the invitation with his arrival at the anti-graft agency’s office.
Video shared on Instagram by human rights activist, Isaac Fayose, showed moment El-Rufai turned up at the EFCC’s gate.
Meanwhile, a minor altercation ensued at the gate as the EFCC operatives denied entry to El-Rufai’s ally who accompanied him as they insisted that only the ex-Kaduna governor can be allowed in.
