Laments over Poor Welfare of Colleagues

A Nigerian soldier has faulted the $100,000 donation and three-bedroom flat apartment donated to the Super Falcons players over their victory at the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) last month.
The aggrieved soldier whose identity was not disclosed had in a now viral video posted on Instagram on Sunday lamented over the poor welfare of soldiers.
Speaking in pidgin, he recounted how many soldiers die on the battlefield while the salary and retirement benefit of those who served for 35 years not reaching the amount donated to the Super Falcons players which he estimated to be N160 million each.
The soldier further decried the amount a Senator earns per month as compared to a soldier who according to him N110,000 and live in a deplorable barracks.
“This video wey I dey do like this, I dey dedicate this video from the seat of the councillor down to the sit of the President. This video na for una, infact to all our leaders. In fact to all our leaders. Una no see am?
“Person just do work for three months, he no even reach three months, Nigeria dey sign N160 million for each person. All the players are 24 if I’m not mistaken. N160million for each of them and all the coach are collecting N80 million. All the players, President give them 3-bedroom flats, each of them.
“And a Nigerian soldier, the number one security man of this country, money wey dem dey pay am from when he join till 35 good years, that is if you have luck to serve the 35 years, plus the one wey dem go pay you when you rest. If you join am together, he no reach money wey dem dey give those girls. The money wey dem give them, join am together, he no even reach the trophy dem win.
“Dem say dem make Nigeria proud. A soldier that has been suffering and dying, some of them no return go their village with their hands. Some no go with their ears. Some no go with two legs.
“Some no go with their spinal cord. Some died in the bush like animal in the bush, money wey dem dey pay dem as salary, a private soldier that pass out today, him money no reach N110,000.
“Before them go even pay dat money, all of them go cry before the money go come. And person wey just work for one-month dey collect N160 million plus apartment. Wetin soldier do una? Wetin solder do the country? Plus the whole die wey soldier dey die. Some go join today, dem no go even use one month to chop their salary.
“To bury am as a hero, money no dey to bury am. Some wey even chop two months’ salary, money no dey to bury am. A Senator dey collect N29 million every month. Money wey soldier worked for 35 years even reach money wey Senator dey collect for one month.
“Those girls now dey collect N160 million and the trophy no even reach money wey dem gather give them. Plus the ones wey governor donate together.” He said.
However, the soldier hinted that the military will one day be free from the civilian-led government like other countries.
The only thing wey I dey thank God for be say nobody dey bribe death. Take this one abeg no kill me and children. He no dey. If he don come, he don come.
