The Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has disclosed that they are yet to receive the $100,000 promised by the Federal Government to each of the member of the team after their successful Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign.
NPO Reported that President Bola Tinubu had last month granted $100,000 cash award to all players of the Nigerian women’s national team while gifting each member of the technical crew $50,000 over their victory at the 2024 WAFCON tournament where they lifted the title for the 10th time.
Tinubu who hosted the team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, following their return from Morocco conferred the national honour of the Order of the Niger (OON) on each members of the team, including the technical crew.
He also gifted them 3-bedroom apartment each at the Renewed Hope estate.
However, the promises are yet to fulfilled as disclosed by Ajibade.
The Super Falcons captain in a recent interview with popular Nigerian TV host, Chude Jidenowo said non of the promises have been fulfilled,
She also disclosed that their match bonuses are yet to be paid.
Ajibade however expressed optimism that the payments will be made.
“We have not received our money o. Actually they haven’t, but they will pay.
“All the promises you heard back and forth, we’ve not received anything o. When they pay it, you will see it. Even our match bonuses and everything are still work in progress. We have not received anything.” She said.
