The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has apologized to Nigerians over the recent epileptic power supply which he claimed to be caused by circumstances beyond his immediate control.
Adelabu made the apology during a public engagement on Tuesday.
The Minister who admitted to the current hardship caused by the shortage of power supply nationwide described the challenge as a temporary issue, stressing that the Ministry is working relentlessly to resolve it.
“For this temporary issue that is leading to hardship especially during this crisis, where there is so much heat everywhere, where businesses are also being affected, where schools are being affected, where industries are being affected, it is not our wish to find ourselves in this situation.
“But it is some factors that are actually beyond our control. But we are not relenting.” He said.
Adelabu reiterated the Ministry’s ongoing effort to resolve the issue and return to the trajectory set in 2025.
He recalled Nigerians commendation of the Ministry in 2025 over constant power supply as he vowed to restore same momentum.
“We are working on it 24/7 to make sure that we go back to the trajectory of 2025. Whereby you praised us, whereby you commended us for a good job well-done.
“And we can imagine if we could provide such service in 2025, this is 2026 where we will be willing to even do more and better as well close to election year. So, except that we cannot help it. That is why we find ourselves here.” Adelabu wrote.
The Minister assured the public that the issue will be resolved in matter of weeks while reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to the achievement of 6000 Megawatts of power before the end of the year.
“But I can assure you that in the next few weeks, all this will be over. Power generation will improve.
“Transmission will improve. Distribution willl improve. And that 6000 Megawatts will be achieved before the end of this year and Nigerians will be better for it.” He added.
