President Bola Tinubu has declared changed in its administration’s approach confronting terrorism and other violent crimes as he vowed to go after all the insurgents and their sponsors.
Tinubu also declared all armed non-state actors as terrorists who will be heavily targeted.
He made this known during his address at the joint National Assembly session on Friday.
The President had appeared before the lawmakers for the presentation of the 2026 budget.
He however seized the moment to reiterate his administration’s commitment to the nation’s security as he announced the new approach set to be taken in fighting terrorism.
“We will fundamentally change how we confront terrorism and other violent crimes. Under this new architecture, any armed group or gun-wielding non-state actors operating around this state and territory will be regarded as terrorist.
“Bandits, militias, armed gangs, armed robbers, violent cults, forest-based armed groups, and foreign-linked mercenaries will all be targeted.
“We will go after all those who perpetrated violence for political or sectarian ends, along with those who finance and facilitate their evil schemes.” Tinubu said.
