The newly appointed Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has shared with Nigerians her plans for the judiciary.
Speaking after her swearing-in ceremony with newsmen, she assured that the judiciary will be improved so as to ensure the confidence of the masse.
NPO reports that Kekere-Ekun was sworn in at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, following the retirement of her predecessor, Olukayode Ariwoola.
According to Kekere-Ekun, all hands have to be on deck to ensure the betterment of the judiciary.
“The reputation that we have, we will improve it and make sure that the people have all the confidence in the judiciary.
“I believe it’s not a one man job, we all have to be on board and because we all see where the areas are that need key improvements, I believe that there will be cooperation because we all want to see a better judiciary.
“A better judiciary is for the benefit of the entire nation, whatever the shortcomings that we see today, we’re all members of the society so if we want to see improvements let it start with each and every one of us in our approach to justice.
“Let us also have faith in the system and also particularly about the process of appointment, I know it gives a lot of concern, discipline, on the bench and at the bar, all these things are aspects that we would look into and I believe that by the grace of God, at the end of my tenure we’ll have a judiciary that we can be proud of.”
