Senator Ali Ndume has explained reason behind his disagreement with the controversial tax reform bill.
The lawmaker representing Borno South explained that his objection of the bill is based on its timing.
Ndume disclosed this during an interview on Channels TV Politics Today program on Thursday.
Few hours after creating scene at the Red Chamber with his agitation against the invitation of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman to explain the content of the bill, Ndume faulted its timing.
When asked of his grouse over the bill, Ndume said it is poorly timed, considering the current economic hardship bedeviling the nation.
“Yes, two of them or three.
“One, which is very important is the timing. I disagree with the timing. This is not the time for such bill as Nigerians are struggling to survive.” He said.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker earlier acknowledged Tinubu’s efforts since the inception of his administration.
He, however, raised concern over political undertakers he alleged are doing damage to Tinubu who he claimed is beclouded with policies.
“Here we are with too many political undertakers and they are doing damage to Mr. President.
“The President is trying and is performing. Within two years he had some issues and things that he did which are commendable, but he is being beclouded by some of these policies.” Ndume said.
Recall that the APC Senator was sacked as the Red Chamber’s Chief Whip over alleged anti-Tinubu remark.
Following his replacement with Sen. Mohammed Tahir the APC had asked him to resign his membership with the party and join any other party of his choice.
