Former Secretary to the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Babachir Lawal, has explained reason behind his criticism and labelling of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration as evil.
Babachir, a former All Porgressives Congress (APC) Chieftain served under the administration of late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, held that the Tinubu administration was worse in terms of sense of equity, fight against corruption, and security amongst others unlike previous administrations.
The former SGF made this known while speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today programme on Monday.
He maintained that previous administrations, including that of former President Goodluck Jonathan, were more accommodating than Tinubu’s regime.
“Let’s not argue about mundane things. When you classify something as evil, it is relative to what it is not. By calling them evil government is relative to past government that we’ve had, implying that past government were better.
“They were more accommodating and better in the sense of equity in the system, intention to fight corruption, sense of being fair and just, and even in the sense of security.
“Goodluck Jonathan fought insecurity. He did but was not so successful at it. Buhari took over and did. But this government are not interested in that.” He said.
Babachir also held that the northern region, particularly Adamawa state, was relatively peaceful under Buhari unlike the Tinubu-led administration which had allegedly seen to the rise of insurgents’ attack in the state.
“Before this government came, Adamawa state was peaceful. Small skirmishes with border areas in Borno state, yes. But it was more peaceful. We could go to our farms except in small areas in my town which borders Sambisa Forest.
“Occasionally, they (Boko Haram) come down from the mountain in Madagari and forage for food. Anybody they find on the way, they attack physically.
“But Adamawa is relatively peaceful, and this government met it that way.
“By the time Buhari was leaving, Adamawa was completely peaceful. But now there are some skirmishes in my local government.
“Now there are some people coming to invade land, drive out the people, kill them and so on and so forth. But it wasn’t like that before during Buhari’s time.” He added.
