Isaac Fayose, a social media influencer and brother of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has revealed reason behind the sacking of all the state commissioners by the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
NPO Reported that Oyebanji had last week announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council with immediate effect.
The governor in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Habibatu Adubiaro, directed the affected Commissioners and Special Advisers to hand over to the Permanent Secretary or the most senior civil servant in their respective MDAs.
He however retained the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, as well as the Commissioners for Health and Human Services; Agriculture and Food Security; Education; Works; and Trade, Investment, Industry and Cooperatives.
Also exempted are the Special Advisers on Special Education and Social Inclusion, and Lands, Survey and e-GIS.
Meanwhile, Fayose in a video shared on X on Wednesday, disclosed that Oyebanji sacked the Commissioners who were recommended by his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi, over the uncertainties surrounding his second term bid.
According to the social media influencer, the Presidency allegedly directed Oyebanji to sack the commissioners due to their affiliation with Fayemi who is allegedly working for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition party.
He held that the Ekiti governor has lost the trust of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and may be replaced during the primaries ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
“Presidency summoned Ekiti Governor. He said your Oga, Fayemi, is working with ADC. That Rotimi Amaechi don talk say na him and Fayemi form ADC. And Oyebanji is Fayemi’s boy.
“So, Presidency say Oyebanji we cannot trust you o. We can’t trust you because the guy that brought you to power is working against APC. So, how do you expect us to trust you?
“Because if you mistakenly win second term, you can go and decamp to ADC because your Oga that brought you is one-leg in, one-leg out. If you want us to trust you, first of all, you have to go and sack all former governor Fayemi’s Commissioners.
“You have to sack them now. That is the first step and there will be primaries in APC because they can’t trust you.
“So, our Oga, Oyebanji, quickly went to Ekiti and sacked all the Commissioners that okay you guys are working for former Governor Fayemi o. I don’t want wahala. All the Fayemi’s recommended appointees and Commissioners, go to your house.
“That means fire don dey dey their yansh. And you see plus that, information is still reaching me from the Villa that even after sacking Fayemi’s Commissioners, they still don’t trust him.
“So, it is looking like they might not use Oyebanji in 2026. You see now that if we no fit catch you, Presidency fit catch you.”Fayose disclosed.
