The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has revealed why Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was not placed in general cell.
Represented by its Deputy Comptroller and spokesperson, Abubakar Danlami, NCoS at the ongoing interrogation at the House of Representative, NCoS disclosed Bobrisky’s transgender features as the reason behind agency’s decision to separate him from the general cell.
Abubakar claimed Bobrisky’s life would be at risk if he had been placed in the general cell which contained convicted rapists.
“The issue of someone who is transgender, but we have to protect him. His rights are sacred.
“His right important for us to protect. If we throw him into a general cell,
“Before the next morning, they will bring out a dead body.
“Because there are lot of people there who convicted and are standing trial for rape and sodomy.
“So we cannot allow that. If we had allowed that, the same public that are clapping for VDM and Bobrisky today will begin to criticize Nigerian Correctional Service for not managing Bobrisky well.” Abubakar narrated.
