Nigerian local airline operator, United Nigeria, has explained reasons behind the rerouting of it Anambra-bound flights and handling the flights over to Arik Airline.
This was contained in statement signed by the airline’s Public Relations Officer, Uloka Chibuike, and shared on its official X handle on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the flight was rerouted to Asaba International Airport due to operational and safety measures.
While apologizing to its aggrieved passengers over the inconveniences caused by the development, United Nigeria debunked claims that the passengers were booked on Arik Air flight.
United Nigeria explained that Arik Air only operated the flight on its behalf to avoid cancellation.
The airline also explained that its transitioning of the flights to Arik Airline was based on an unscheduled maintenance requirement on the designated aircraft initially slated for the flights.
On reasons behind rerouting the flight to Asaba International Airport, United Nigeria, explained that it was based on Anambra Airport’s status as a sunset airport which restricts landing to 6:00pm.
