Ekaette Akpabio, wife of the Nigerian Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has debunked alleged sexual advances by her husband to Kogi state lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
NPO reported that Natasha had, in an interview with Arise TV on Friday, accused Akpabio of making Sexual advances to her.
This came under the heels of last week’s outburst by the Kogi lawmaker over the change of her seat.
Natasha had accused the Senate President of intimidation- an action which led to her suspension by the Senate leadership.
Having filed a N100.3 billion lawsuit against Akpabio, the embattled lawmaker would appear on Arise TV this morning to recount how her refusal of the Senate President’s romance advance marked the beginning of her troubles.
According to her, the advances began on the 8th of December 2023 when she and her husband paid a visit to Akpabio at his Akwa-Ibom residence ahead of his birthday.
Defending her husband in an interview few hours after the shocking allegation, Ekaette held that the Senate President is way too disciplined to indulge in such, adding that he holds her and her children in high regards.
The former Akwa-Ibom state first lady disclosed that Natasha’s husband have been a close friend with her family- even before he married the Kogi Senator.
She, however, assumed that Natasha would not have made such an allegation without her husband’s approval.
“We knew the husband before the husband married her. They were very good friends or they are they are still very good friends.
“I really don’t understand where this is coming from and I believe that for somebody to go and make such an allegation, there must be a discussion at home.
“There must have been a sanction or an approval. You are going to say this, go ahead and say it. And if the approval has come from the husband, our friend, I believe that he would have spoken to me because we are close.
“He is close to my husband. But if he didn’t give her the approval to go on air and make such an allegation, then the question is does he have control?” She said.
In contrast to Natasha’s claim, Ekaette questioned the genuineness of the allegations as she noted that their house is never deserted whenever Akpabio is around.
She maintained that Akpabio is never alone while also questioning how Natasha’s husband would not noticed the alleged romance advances if he was indeed walking behind her wife.
“If the man was walking behind and the conversation was taking place in his presence, he could have heard. Even the body gesticulation could have shown the man that there was something wrong.
“Security men are always with the SP. So for that night, I know people were at home.
“The house is never empty when he is around because constituents will be there, Akwa-Ibom people will be there, and they never leave him. Whether the house in the village or the house in Uyo.
“And there’s no way a man that is as disciplined as that can think of taking a woman to his home. He has a lot of respect for me and for my children and regard.” Ekaette said.
