The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has called one of the aggrieved landowners in Abuja “stupid” for daring to speak over their predicament.
An angry Wike has caused outrage online after tongue-lashing a group of land owners in Abuja who claimed ownership of their property.
As seen in a now viral video on X, the FCT Minister was addressing the aggrieved land owners who had approached him over their property.
Wike’s outburst is coming amidst outrage over a similar case when a member of the House of Representatives, Alex Ikwechegh, has come under condemnations for using unprintable words on a car-hailing driver, Stephen Abuwatseye in Abuja.
His verbal and physical assaults have come under investigations by the police.
Severally, the minister told the complainants to shut up asking who gave them the right to talk.
While convincing Wike of possessing Certificate of Ownership, the minister maintained that every land in the FCT belongs to FCT.
“You can’t go to a place and seize lands. We won’t allow that. If not for lawlessness. If you don’t know what to do, then we teach you what you can do. Every land in FCT belongs to the FCT. The only thing you can do is to go to court. But here, we take our land,” Wike said.
He stated that the land belongs to the FCT while accusing the land owners for taking laws into their hands by harrassing officials who earlier visited the property.
While denying the allegation, one of the land owners attempted to call Wike’s attention as he headed back to his car.
The minister got upset in the process; tongue-lashing the aggrieved land owner.
“Who told you you can talk? If you think that you take something, you are not the only one. You need to be very careful. Stupid! Is it because I came down to talk to you? If you don’t know what to do, go and bring your gods,” an angered Wike said.
This has not gone down well for netizens who expressed their displeasure over Wike’s reaction.
Among them is popular content creator, Mr. Debo Adedayo popularly called Mr. Macaroni.
The social media influencer slammed Wike for calling the land owners stupid.
“Dear Wike, you are a PUBLIC SERVANT!
Next time you want to address the citizens who pay your salary, do so with utmost humility and respect. Never go about asking Nigerians if they are stupid… you are not doing anyone a favour by being Minister!!! “Is it because I came down to talk to you” . You must think you are talking to your slaves.” Mr. Macaroni wrote.
Others would flood the comment sections, calling out the Minister for his alleged arrogance.
“A delusional man, filled with pride and his ego can boil water. So full of himself. Like if not for politics Nigerians will hear about his name sef. Always talking down on those he’s serving. Tueh!” @Gbemisola wrote.
