The United States Embassy has announced the closure of its Abuja office and the Consulate General in Lagos to mark the May 1st Workers Day celebration.
This was disclosed in a post shared on the embassy’s official X handle on Wednesday.
According to the post, the offices will be closed on Thursday in observance of the annual Workers Day.
“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in observance of Workers Day.” The post read.
NPO Reported that the Federal Government had also earlier declared May 1st as public holiday.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani in Abuja.
The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, had in the statement reiterated the need for peace to drive industrialisation and economic growth.
He commended workers for their diligence and sacrifice, noting that workers’ efforts are largely responsible for the greatness of the country and the respect Nigeria commands in the comity of nations.
