For the next five months, 13,000 victims of flood in Yobe State are to be paid a sum of N429m on a monthly basis.
This is because each of the victims is expected to be paid N33,000 each on a monthly basis.
The amount comes to N2.1bn in the five months they are expected to be paid.
The Executive Secretary State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Muhammed Goje, who disclosed this at the collaboration meeting with Save the Children International and Yobe Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (YOCHMA), in Damaturu said there is an agreement to provide what he called “stimulus” to the victims.
He said, “Save the Children has agreed to provide a cash stimulus support of N33,000 monthly, for a period of five months to 1300 affected flood victims in Gujba and Gulani local government areas.
“As well as non food items to another 1,300 victims across other flood affected communities.”, Goje said.
The YOCHMA Director of Programmes, Alhaji Suleiman Dauda, proposed to the stakeholders at the meeting an Installment premium payment plan of N3,000 monthly for a period of four months for every victim.
Earlier in his remarks, Alhaji Bulama Bukar, member representing Gujba constituency in the State House of Assembly appreciated the gesture and reaffirmed the support of his people.
