Nigerian businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has assured President Bola Tinubu of Southeasterners’ support of his re-election bid as retracted his earlier statement over the imprisonment of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
NPO Reported that Cubana Chief Priest had in a now deleted post on Thursday held that Tinubu will not get up to 10,000 votes in the Southeast over the life sentencing of Kanu by the Abuja Federal High Court.
Kanu was sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of all seven counts contained in the terrorism charge filed against him.
In reaction, Cubana Chief Priest had faulted the judgement while calling out Southeast political leaders, particularly the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who he labelled a weak politician.
However, the businessman in the latest post retracted his statement as he disclosed being in discussion with Kalu over Kanu’s case.
Cubana Chief Priest maintained that all hope is not lost over the IPOB leader as the President can now take action with the case now out of court.
He however urged Tinubu to listen to the Southeast delegates set to meet him as he assured the President of the region’s support of his re-election bid, providing Kanu is released.
The post read; “I have been on call for over 42 mins with the Deputy Speaker & from all he briefed me, all hopes are not lost.
“MNK will get freedom hopefully because it’s now the President can take action as matter don commot from court.
“The Deputy Speaker is not a weak man as I stated earlier. He is an action man. Is just that they failed to brief us the people with the process of their support to secure MNK release.
“All hopes are not yet lost @officialasiwajubat your votes are secured.
“The delegation coming to meet you please listen to them Sir. As long as you help us by letting MNK come home to us to fix Southeast, just do your eight years dey go.
“Person wey cause this problem don die make the matter sef die.
“Since his detention, southeast has failed woefully. We need to be on the rise again.
“I will be visiting MNK soon with DS as this conversation has helped me gain access make I go see Onye Ndu Ndi Igbo MNK one on one.”
