The Chief Imam of Ifeland, Alhaji AbdulHammed AbdulSemiu, has charged Muslim faithfuls to be loyal with removing their Zakat this year, for it purifies their wealth.
AbdulSemiu made the clarification during the Jumat at Ife Central Mosque opposite Enuwa Square, Ile-Ife, on Friday.
He said that Allah stated that “Zakat keeps Muslims from sin and saves the giver from the moral will arising from greed and love of wealth”.
According to him, Muslim must ensure that those that didn’t have the means to thrive are given what they need to survive
“In Islam, generosity is a central theme that Allah gives to those he loves, and He guides them to refrain from attachments to material wealth.
“It is always better to give than to receive, both Zakat and Sadaqah are a vital part of being a Muslim, for these sacrifices guarantees protection from tragedy and misfortune”. He charged.
The Chief Imam appealed to faithful Muslims to care for the poor, including widows, orphans, people with disabilities, the needy and the destitute.
He admonished them to focus on community sustainability, for “Zakat is the engine that facilitates that”.
The Chief Imam reminded them that those who failed to pay their Zakat would face the wrath of God on judgement day.
