In furtherance of speculations on possible coalition ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election, former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has, on Sunday, paid a visit to former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
El-Rufai had, alongside former Adamawa State governor, Jibrilla Bindow, visited Atiku after Iftar yesterday.
Atiku, who made the disclosure in a post on his X handle, said he had discussion with the duo who were accompanied by others.
“After tonight’s Itfar (breaking of fast), I received in audience, former Governor of Kaduna State, @elrufai, former Governor of Adamawa, Jibrilla Bindow and Musa Halilu, Dujima Adamawa. Our robust discussions were the dessert of the meal.” Atiku wrote.
The former Vice President had over time advocated for a coalition party to defeat the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the 2027 general election.
His advocacy for coalition party had, however, raised controversies of his possible defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This would be dismissed by his media group which maintained that the former Vice President remains a member of the PDP.
On the other hand, the exit of Nasir El-Rufai from the All Progressives Congress (APC) appears imminent as the former Kaduna governor had over time been at odd with the party leadership.
He had in a recent interview vented his frustration with the party while not clearly stating intent to leave.
