The Allied Peoples Movement Candidate for the 2027 Oyo State Governor, Abimbola Adekanbi, has debunked claim of being a surrogate of the outgoing governor ofthe state, Seyi Makinde.
Abimbola recalled Makinde’s support of his candidacy.
He however noted Makinde’s support of his candidaace and encouragement to to chat his own path.
‘I’m no surrogate to Governor Makinde. Governor Makinde has made it clear at many fora that Bimbo, don’t inherit my enemies or liabilities. Go and chat your own path.
‘In the second instance, he said at the last Hijra that Bimbo will be your next governor. Support him. I will not make a call on anybody’s behalf to Bimbo and for me,
‘I’m owning every action I take as a governor as I’ve always owned actions in my life. I’m prepared. I have my own manifesto and strategy.’ He said.
Speaking on the reason behind his unveiling of the Omituntun 3.0 which many considered as a bid by Makinde to contol the governor, AbImbola likened the case that of iPhone and Samsung.
He maintained that he has has his own manifest but will adopt the agenda of Omititun to aid continuity projects previously done by Maknde.
‘The answer is right here in front of you Dr. Abati.
‘The reason why I said this is because I see iPhones and Samsung here. That’s the answer.
‘You have iPhone, 8 iPhone 7,iPhone 6. There is an Apple ecosystem.
‘They’ve been building a product. I’m an iPhone 8. I’m not going to discard the achievements of Seyi Makinde.
‘If you stepped back, Gov. Ajimobi had a agenda- restoration, transformation, and repositioning. Seyi Makinde’s first term accelerated development. The second term, sustainable development.
‘Now there is continuous development with Bimbo Adekunbi. It is like the iPhone or Samsung ecosystem.’ He said.
On claims that Makinde selected all the candidates for the 2027 election, Abimbola held that due process were followed in the emergence of the candidates.
‘The governor did not just sit down in his office and drop a list. There was a process leading to the emergence of all the candidates.
‘There we consultations, public consultations, and there was input from every sector and region of our state and then the governorship candidate, senatorial candidates, House of Reps candidates, and the House of Assembly candidate emerged by consensus.’ He said.
