A 30-year-old man, Abiodun Adetola, has, on Friday pleaded guilty to stealing N720,000 worth of mobile phones in a church at Ibadan, Oyo state.
Adetola, whose address was not provided, pleaded guilty to a count charge of stealing before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan.
As narrated before the Magistrate by the prosecutor, Insp Iyabo Oladoyin, the defendant, who disguised himself as a church security guard, committed the offence on the 8th of December, at about 11.50 a.m., at Harvester International Church, Onireke area of Ibadan.
Oladoyin said the defendant stole three mobile phones worth N720,000 at the church premises, two weeks after joining the church security operatives.
She said the offences contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola, therefore, adjourned the case until Dec. 27, for review of facts and sentencing.
