No fewer than 309 shops were razed with 58 others looted by suspected hoodlums following fire outbreak at Jos Terminus main market in Plateau State.
The incident, as confirmed by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), occured on Tuesday night into the early hours of Wednesday.
NEMA, in a post shared on its official X handle, describing the incident as devastating as several persons have lost their means of livelihood to the inferno.

While the cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be ascertain, the agency also stated that data of affected persons is still being gathered.
The post read; “NEMA and other stakeholders from the (Jos North) LGA, are presently carrying out an immediate assessment of the Fire Disaster that occurred at the Terminus Main Market on the night of Tuesday 29th April, 2025 into the early hours of Wednesday 30th April, 2025.
“More than 309 stalls owners lost all their goods and another 58 lost goods to hoodlums who took the advantage of the occurrence. Data of affected persons is still being gathered.
“The affected persons are devastated and have lost their means of livelihood. Immediate intervention will be provided to alleviate and cushion their loss and sufferings.”
