A 39-year-old man, Adebayo Adejogunola, has, on Thursday bagged three months imprisonment at an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Osun for disobeying court order.
The Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara, gave the judgement that the convict be kept behind bars due to the magnitude of the offence.
Adejogunola was accused by the State Prosecuting Counsel, Mr Adekunle Adeniyi, for failing to appear in court to attend to his case involving a fraud of N9.7 million.
The Prosecuting Counsel said that the convict defrauded one Akanbi Kayode of 36 tons (445kg) of maize sold at the rate of N265 valued at N9,657,925 .
Adeniyi said the convict jumped bail granted to him and failed to appear in court for five consecutive times.
According to him, the convict failed to appear on May 14, May 30, Sept. 3, Oct. 24 and Oct. 29, 2024.
He said the offence committed contravened section 133(9) of the Criminal Code cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.
