The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the forthcoming Osun election, Bola Oyebamiji, has accused the incumbent governor of the state, Ademola Adeleke, of concentrating 97 percent of the state’s revenue to two local government areas.
Oyebamiji made the allegation while speaking at the Town Hall panel debate hosted by Arise TV in Osogbo on Tuesday.
While not specifically identifying the two local government, the APC governorship candidate labelled the allegation an aberration as he pledged to ensure an all-inclusive government if elected.
He also alleged deficit in number of teachers in Osun state which he promised correct.
‘As at today 97 percent of our resources goes to two LGAs that is an aberration and criminal. I’m going to run all-inclusive government.
‘As at today, we have 28,000 deficits of teachers in Osun. education is somersaulting in Osun. I’m going to invest in education and health is also important.’ He said.
Oyebamiji further questioned the spending of the revenue generated by the state under Adeleke’s administration which, according to him, is more than the revenue generated under the combined administrations of former governors, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola.
‘Let me remind you that under the 12 years administration of Aregbesola and Oyetola the revenue that came to Osun was 450 billion.
‘For this administration, in three years, they have collected 650 billion. How can you match that with what we have today.’ He said.
The APC candidate also maintained that the Oyetola-led administration never borrowed money during its administration.
‘Let me go back again, Oyetola govt did not borrow a dime, We left N15 billion before we left.’ He said
On his alleged capital flight of fund from Osun to Lagos during his time as Osun Commissioner for Finance, Oyebamiji refuted the claims as he held that Osun revenue is largely insignificant as compared to what is generated in Lagos.
‘How can any sensible man says you are flighting capital from Osun to Lagos.
‘I don’t know any amount of money you will put together and send it to Lagos to do what.’ Oyebamiji said.
