Nigeria’s owned Port Harcourt Refinery has commenced production of crude oil at a 60% capacity, following a major upgrade and modernization project since 2021.
The announcement was made by the spokesperson, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Olufemi Soneye, on Tuesday.
The refinery is set to dispatch its first batch of petroleum products on Tuesday, November 26.
According to him, the refinery has kicked off with 60 percent capacity.
He noted that the Refinery is processing 60,000 barrels per day of crude.
The Port Harcourt refinery has a combined 250,000 barrels per day capacity.
NPO Reports that this is following multiple failed deadlines of commencement.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) had set multiple dates for the refinery’s operational start, which elapsed without being fulfilled.
