Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, in in collaboration with Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have eliminated bandits operating in Taraba and Benue States.
This was contained in a statement by the army on Sunday.
The operation, codenamed “Operation Golden Peace,” aims to restore peace and security in the region.
On December 7, 2024, the troops launched a well-coordinated clearance operation in the Akahagu and China villages of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State.
The operation extended to Ikayor village, where troops engaged bandits linked to the notorious criminal Akiki Utiv, also known as “Full Fire.”
The bandits were forced to flee after troops applied overwhelming firepower.
Items recovered include; A red Toyota Corolla vehicle, a motorcycle, and various items, including a military camouflage trouser and a Beretta pistol.
The Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their bravery and resilience.
He assured residents of Taraba and Benue States that the military remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the region.
