Lagos State Police Command has dismissed claims that the woman arrested for assaulting an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is a Police officer.
The Command in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, noted that if the woman, identified as Monalisa Osayi, had been an officer, she would have been placed under internally disciplinary process and effectively dismissed.
Hundeyin urged members of the public to disregard the false claims as he reaffirmed strong synergy between the Police Force and the FRSC.
The statement read in part; “The Lagos State Police Command wishes to debunk claims making the rounds that Monalisa Osayi, who was arrested for assaulting officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps on December 7, 2024, is a police officer.
“On the contrary, the suspect was arrested and prosecuted by the Ajah Division of the Lagos State Police Command for the assault.
“Were she a police officer, internal disciplinary processes would have first been activated, resulting in her suspension or dismissal, before she could be arraigned in court.
“The Command, therefore, urges the public to disregard the false claims and assures them that the synergy between the police and the FRSC and, indeed, other sister security agencies is robust and remains of paramount importance in the security architecture of Lagos State.”
