The Kuwaiti General Department of Criminal Investigation, GDCI, has arrested two Nigerians over alleged robbery of an exchange office in Mahboula, southern Kuwait City.
According to a statement by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, as reported by Arab Times Online, the unnamed suspects were arrested within 24 hours of robbing the exchange office where they allegedly stole $14,918, approximately 4,600 Kuwaiti Dinars.
One of the suspects, as captured in a CCTV camera, was seen exiting a vehicle while wearing a balaclava before entering the exchange office and threatening an employee with what appeared to be a firearm.
According to report, the Kuwait authorities revealed that the suspects meticulously planned the heist, monitoring the exchange office from nearby rooftops to determine peak times.
They also reportedly used stolen license plates to avoid detection.
Following their arrest, one suspect confessed to scouting the location and signaling his accomplice when the office was free of customers.
The second suspect was detained in Al-Qurain Market. A subsequent search of his residence uncovered the stolen cash and a small bag containing crystal meth.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that both suspects, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the public prosecution for further legal proceedings.
