Reveals How Emefiele Was Allegedly Tortured in Dungeon Inside National Security Adviser’s Office
Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, on Tuesday said he entertains no fears of arrest or death in his crusade against what he perceives as wrong with the Nigerian society.
This was just as he hinted of how former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, was tortured inside a torture chamber allegedly inside the office of the National Security Adviser.
el-Rufai said he had information that this was where Emefiele was allegedly tortured to compel him from resigning from his position in 2023.
The former Governor of the North Central state of kaduna, whose criticisms and opposition to the current administration is gathering more visibility, was responding to a tweet by an X user who hinted he had information that the government was planning to arrest el-Rufai, put him in detention and keep him out of circulation.
el-Rufai was a member of the ruling All Progressive Congress and worked for the emergence of the present President Bola Tinubu.
The former Governor had earlier vowed not to be part of the Tinubu administration during the campaign to install the President.
However, Tinubu was said to have prevailed on him to change his mind to take up a role in government.
However things took another turn after el-Rufai’s nomination as a minister was dramatically turned down after he had shown up for screening by the National Assembly.
Security issues were linked to his rejection by the senate.
The X user, who went by the name Hon Imran U Wakili (PULLO) and with the X handle @IU_Wakilii, had posted “I was reliably informed that there is a plan to arrest (not invite) Mallam Nasir El-Rufai if he comes back to Nigeria with another concocted allegations as usual. I am confident El-Rufai will return soon because he has nothing to hide and is not afraid of anyone. Mallam mai Allah.”
In responding, el-Rufai he had heard of the same information adding however that none of these would stop him from expressing his mind on issues of governance, economy and general wellbeing of the people.
The former governor said thrice he had been arrested before by government and put behind bars adding that not even the threats of death can make him stop.
The former Governor who indicated he was responding from Cairo, Egypt, said he was coming back to Nigeria to confirm he is not afraid of any arrest of detention adding that for clarity sake, he would be attending a book launch in honour of former Military President Ibrahim Babangida slated for February 20, this year.

DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY. WHAT WILL BE WILL BE: Dear Imran
Your post below refers. I have been hearing these same rumors of arrest, detention and torture in some dungeon in the NSA’s office (where Emefiele was allegedly tortured to resign as CBN governor), since July 2024 when the so-called report of the Kaduna Assembly began circulating.
They freaked out when we challenged the legality of the premeditated defamation, and went to every length to compromise the judicial process, and this is continuing at the Court of Appeal. They have sent such similar messages of intimidation and threats through many of my friends, family and political associates because they want me to go on self-imposed exile. I will not. I have now put all my previous academic and language-learning plans on hold and will spend more time in Nigeria than ever before.
“Silence is no longer golden. Inaction has never been an option. The arrest, detention and torture of perceived political enemies are nothing new in human affairs. I have been arrested and detained thrice in the past for expressing my views of previous governments. There is always a morning after the arrest or detention or torture, and political life continues.
As for death, it when Allah destines it, and it is ultimate the date of every human. For the attention of the pathetic characters that don’t sleep well whenever I am in Nigeria, take notice that I intend to return in time for the launch of Pres IBB’s memoirs, in sha Allah, scheduled for 20th February. We depend on no one but Allah. We fear no mortal but Almighty Allah. We always hope for the best but plan for the worst. Thanks
for your concern, but, remember that what will be, will always be. Nasir
