The National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress Dr. Ajibola Basiru has failed to secure Osogbo for the candidate of the party Bola Oyebanji in the ongoing governorship election held on Saturday. Basiru who hails from Osogbo had once represented the Osun Central Senatorial district in the National Assembly. By the conclusion of collation of the results of the local government area on Saturday, votes scored by Basiru’s party stood at 27,674 while that of Accord Party stood at 32,043.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has resumed the uploading of results of the governorship election held on Saturday. The resumption started almost two hours after what appeared like freeze giving rife to speculations that there were moves from some unnamed quarters to halt the process. Governor Ademola Adeleke of Accord Party had called on President Bola Tinubu to instruct the commission to proceed with the uploading and conclude the exercise. The candidate of the Accord Party, Ademola Adeleke, has taken an early lead in the ongoing Osun State governorship election with 222,586 votes from 1,634 polling units, according to the latest results aggregated from verified INEC Form EC8A returns. Adeleke, the incumbent governor, is currently ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who has polled 173,003 votes from 1,641 polling units. Attentions have shifted to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s election results portal iREV for the outcome of Saturday’s governorship poll.
