The candidate of the Accord Party, Ademola Adeleke, has taken an early lead in the ongoing Osun State governorship election with 222,586 votes from 1,634 polling units, according to the latest results aggregated from verified INEC Form EC8A returns.
Adeleke, the incumbent governor, is currently ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who has polled 173,003 votes from 1,641 polling units.
The latest figures put Adeleke ahead of Oyebamiji by 49,583 votes, with the Accord candidate securing 54.3 per cent of the 409,972 total valid votes recorded in the results released so far.
Oyebamiji, meanwhile, has 42.2 per cent of the votes, while the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Salaam Najeem Folasayo, is in a distant third position with 7,851 votes, representing 1.9 per cent.
Other candidates in the results include Olarewaju Farinloye of the Action Alliance (AA) with 2,144 votes, Adeagbo Yemisi of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) with 1,197 votes and APGA’s candidate with 1,161 votes.
The figures are from 1,634 polling units secured by Adeleke and 1,641 won by Oyebamiji out of a total 3,763 polling units across the state. The results are expected to change as more polling unit results are verified and added to the ongoing collation.
