The Imole Campaign Council of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has denied speculation of a political agreement between the governor and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following Adeleke’s endorsement of the President for a second term in 2027.
The council said Adeleke’s decision to support Tinubu was based on the President’s performance and reforms, rather than any pre-arranged political deal.
The council’s spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, stated this in a post on X on Sunday while reacting to a comment by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
Keyamo had congratulated Adeleke on his re-election and thanked him for his public endorsement of Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.
The minister also described Adeleke as a man of integrity and honour, stating that “Agreement is agreement.”
Reacting to Keyamo’s post, Olajengbesi dismissed the speculation and insisted that there was no agreement behind Adeleke’s support for the President.
“Do not undermine the resilience of Osun people. There is no agreement,” he said.
“Our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is based on his performance and reforms that have strengthened states economically,” Olajengbesi said.
The campaign council also maintained that Adeleke’s victory in the Osun governorship election was solely the result of the decision of voters at the ballot box.
Olajengbesi said Tinubu did not determine the outcome of the election but only ensured that the democratic process was respected.
“Osun people voted @AAdeleke_01. President Tinubu simply ensured democratic rules were respected,” he said.
Adeleke’s re-election in the State was secured with a total of 511,067 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes.
