Film maker Kunle Afolayan has denied owing First Bank of Nigeria N5bn.
The actor cum director in a video posted on his social media pages on Friday said if any bank could offer his company, Golden Effects a sum of N5bn, he would b glad to use it for the betterment of the country through his creative productions.
His response came amidst some online postings suggesting that a court had summoned Afolayan after the bank reportedly said he was unreachable.
The postings suggested that the said loan was to facilitate his production of Anikulapo, one of his major productions.
Hinting that those behind the rumours of his alleged loan defaults would hear from him, the movie maker said his organization remains a good customer of First Bank adding that both are into different deals that are mutually beneficial.
”If I see a bank that will give me N5bn, I will take it because I will use it for the betterment of the country,” he said
He said the production of Anikulapo, the movie said to have gulped the amount in the viral posting, was “a co-production from the Golden Effects and Netflix and it was a clear straight deal and no money is owed. No money is owed to anyone.”
Attempting what could have been the cause of such rumours, Afolayan said the fabricated information might just have been from people who are suffering from disillusion imposed by the situation in the country.
Afolayan said he would not responded to the claims but series of calls and inquiries by family and friends necessitated speaking out to douse what he called a mere figment of the imagination of those spreading the falsehood.
Afolayan, Scion of the late legendary Josiah Adeyemi Afolayan , popularly called Ade Love, is well rated as a movie making from Nigeria clinching awards in various categories of the creative industry.
His Film Village, called KAP Village, located in Igbojaye in Oyo State, is emerging a go-to tourist attraction bringing in hundreds of creative performers and others since it was opened.
Afolayan has to his credit movies such as Figurine, Mokaliki, Anikulapo, Irapada, October 1, Diamond in the Sky, Citation and a host of others.
