Attentions have shifted to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s election results portal iREV for the outcome of Saturday’s governorship poll.
While voting had since ended in most polling units by 5pm today, results of the election had started trickling in as INEC uploaded the results from the various polling units across the state.
As at 7pm on Saturday, 2,748 results had been uploaded out of a total of 3,763 from the exercise representing about 73.03% of the total results.
The Accord Party governorship candidate and incumbent Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC are in a tight race in Saturday’s governorship election.
The Result Viewing portal, IReV, which allowed the public to view uploaded polling unit results was gradually been uploaded by INEC as results is being collated across the state.
The IReV portal indicated that INEC has uploaded 69.28% of the results from Osun State governorship election.
The election, which was held across 30 local government areas of the state, witnessed voting by thousands of registered voters who turned out at polling units to elect their next governor.
Meanwhile, Adeleke secured 421 votes at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound, Ede North Local Government Area.
The result triggered celebrations among the governor’s supporters at the polling unit, with jubilant party members hailing the outcome as sorting and collation of results progressed.
