Afrobeat star, David Adeleke, popularly called Davido has told the people of Osun state, especially the youths not to allow themselves to be intimidated ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Davido, at a press briefing in Osogbo on Wednesday, also called for peace; asking the authorities to allow the people choose who leads them.
NPO Reports that Davido’s Uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke is seeking re-election as the governor of Osun state.
There have been pockets of violence across the state ahead of the election which holds in 10 days time.
He said political ambitions should not be allowed to put the lives of Osun people at risks.
“If they choose you, let the victory be through their votes. If they choose someone else, let their decision be respected,” Davido said just as he made a personate appeal to the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodima to prevail on the All Progressive Congress apparatchik not to turn Osun into a battle ground.
Davido said he has credible information suggesting that there are moves to interfere in the Osun election. He urged “Our daddy from Imo” to stop an alleged move to “to use Osun to prove a political point.”
Davido reminded the Governor of Imo that he has very strong connection with Imo reminding that his wife Chioma hails from Imo state.
The singer asked the people to “stay peaceful. Stay united. Come out, vote freely and never allow anyone to intimidate you.”
Adding that “Osun belongs to all of us,” the singer said twice his uncle Adeleke had won elections in the state.
