Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has unveiled a N1 million academic scholarship for private and public secondary school students across the state.
The initiative christened “Imole Statewide Public and Private Schools Students SSCE Scholarship” is targeted at rewarding the best-performing students in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) in Osun.
Adeleke announced this in a statement posted on his official X handle on Thursday.
According to the governor, scholarship initiative will see the overall best student awarded N1 million with an additional N100,00, for each of the best students in both public and private schools per local government.
Also, the best-performing public and private schools will also be granted N500,000 educational support fund to enhance their academic programs.
Adeleke further disclosed that the teachers of the best students will also be rewarded.
He urged the students to give their best in the forthcoming 2025 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The statement read in part; “In a landmark initiative aimed at promoting academic excellence in secondary schools across Osun state, I have unveiled the “Imole Statewide Public and Private Schools Students SSCE Scholarship”, to reward the best-performing students in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) in Osun.
“This scholarship, supported by Electronic Collections Group (ECG), is designed to recognize and support outstanding students from both public and private schools in all the 30 local government areas and area office of Osun State.
“This initiative will award a ₦1,000,000 (One Million Naira) scholarship to the overall best student and an additional ₦100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) scholarship award, for each of the best students in both public and private schools per local government.
“Beyond individual student awards, the best-performing public and private schools will also be granted a ₦500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) educational support fund to enhance their academic programs.
“Furthermore, to recognize the role of educators in shaping academic excellence, teachers of the best students from both public and private schools in each local government area will be rewarded with exciting gift items.
“This underscores our administration’s commitment to improving educational standards and fostering intellectual growth among Osun students.
“I hereby urge teachers and school administrators to prepare their students adequately for the 2025 WAEC SSCE, and ensure they perform exceptionally well to qualify for the scholarship awards.
“All winners of the scholarship will be officially announced upon the release of the SSCE results.”
