The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has faulted the call for South-South Zone meeting by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.
Speaking during a media chat on Wednesday over ongoing Rivers crisis, Wike slammed the Baylesa governor’s call for meeting without his invitation and other the key political office holders in the region such as lawmakers representing the region at the National Assembly.
The FCT Minister expressed his disappoint with Diri as he recounted how he was kneeling down when brought to him by Minister of Petroleum (State), Heineken Lokpobiri.
“This Diri that is talking now, Governor Diri (Governor of Bayelsa State), you know when you put people in power, go and ask the Minister of Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri; he brought Governor Diri to me, and he was kneeling down.
“That’s why when you look at people, character is something you cannot buy.
“Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of Petroleum brought him with David Lion. This governor was kneeling down. I say no don’t do that.
“Today, you will go and call a meeting of South-South zone in your house, Minister of FCT will not be there, zonal committee will not be there, Senators will not be there, National Assembly will not be there.
“Is that how politics is played? Something you can still achieve. Now you go and cause problem.” Wike said.
