The Super Eagles of Nigeria has on Friday revived their hope of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they trashed Rwanda in 2-0 win.
Following poor start in the qualifiers, the Nigerian national team regained their momentum at Kigali as they secured all three points courtesy Victor Osimhen’s first half brace.
The Galatasaray forward put Nigeria into an early lead in the 11th minute.
Africa’s best player of the year, Ademola Lookman, had launched a well-taken free kick into Rwanda’s box which Osimhen neatly tapped in.
Osimhen would double his tally few minutes before the end of first half.
With no goals from both sides at the second half, Super Eagles grabbed all three points.
The win which marked Super Eagles first victory under new coach, Eric Chelle, saw Nigeria climb to the 4th place on the Group C table with six points.
