Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has accused the Senate President of corruption with habit of abusing women during his tenure as Akwa-Ibom State Governor.
Atiku made the accusation in a yet-to-be released exclusive interview with Adesua Giwa-Osagie on Untold Stories programme.
This is coming amid the ongoing sexual harrasment scandal involving the Senate President and suspended lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Recall that Natasha had in an interview last month accused Akpabio of making sexual advances towards her.
Prior to her suspension, she formally submitted the sexual harrasment petition to the Senate which was addressed yesterday by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions.
As captured in the video snippet of the interview slated to be released today, the ex-Vice President made the remark on Akpabio while speaking on the National Assembly’s quick approval of President Bola Tinubu’s state of emergency declaration in Rivers.
“I was not surprised because I know the leadership is corrupt and I have no apologies about that.
“They could anything and the Senate President is known to be having those types of character even when he was a governor.
“He was corrupt. Not only was he corrupt, he was also in the habit of abusing women.” The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate said.
Reflecting on the 2023 Presidential election former Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, was tipped to be his running mate, Atiku held that he had no regret choosing former Delta governor , Ifeanyi Okowa, over the current Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.
On the coalition plot against the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 General Election, Atiku hinted the possibility of contesting again for Presidency.
“We had a similar merger in 2014 and there were about four of us. Is it two or three? We all ran for President. One of us emerged and we all supported him.
“I have not seen Nigeria in direct need of an experience, credible leadership than this time.” He stated.
