The Nigerian Meteorological Agency’s (NiMet) staff have called off their strike following Federal Government’s intervention.
NPO Reported that the workers of the agency had yesterday embarked on the industrial action in agitation over poor welfarism and low wages.
The workers decried the non-implementation of the new national minimum wage and neglect of key training programmes for staff, amongst other agitations.
The agency shut down its service nationwide which affected airports as several airlines suspended their flight operations.
In reaction, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, held meeting with NiMet officials and other stakeholders in Abuja on Thursday.
Specifically, the meeting had in attendance the Director General, NiMET, Officials of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the National Union of Transport Employees, and other key stakeholders.
NiMet would thereafter call off the strike following the conclusion of the meeting.
